History

Commonly called a "Mercury" dime," this coin's main device is in fact a representation of Liberty. The wings adorning her cap were intended to symbolize liberty of thought. The designer's initials, "AW," are to the right of the neck. Adolph Weinman also designed the Walking Liberty half dollar, which now adorns the Silver American Eagle bullion issue.

Memo

Comments: Coins that show full split bands across the fasces on the reverse design command a substantial premium.
