History
It was the policy of the United States to have a uniform design on all its major coin denominations. The Draped Bust design was used on all silver coins minted during this period.
Memo
Two different eagle designs were used for the reverse of this type. A small eagle design was used first. It was later replaced by a larger, heraldic eagle variety.
